WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE

My name is Peter Moore and I go on grand journeys and write about them. I've travelled overland from London to Sydney and from Cape Town to Cairo. And more recently I bought a Vespa as old as I am and rode around Italy.

I hope my stories convey what I love about travel - the adventure, the laughs, the tough times and the incredible hospitality of people in the most unexpected places. Most importantly, I hope my books make you want to hit the road yourself.

Hoodoo Gurus at the ForumPopped over to the Forum at Kentish Town on Friday night to see the Hoodoo Gurus. It was the London leg of the tour that took them to Glastonbury.

I went with Uncle Hunty, a regular contributor to this blog. Hunty's a big bloke so we didn't have to worry about any knife-carrying teenagers on the Northern Line from Waterloo. He also got served pretty quickly at the bar.

The gig wasn't sold out so we were able to get a good spot up front, right near the speakers. The Gurus were in top form, cranking out all their hits and a few I hadn't heard for a while. Highlights were Leilani (although they stuffed up the finish), Bittersweet and a cracking version of Tojo, clearly a crowd favourite.

I loved every minute of it. So did the audience. But when I bought a round from a young English guy behind the bar, I wondered what he made of the songs. South Sea Island princesses throwing themselves into volcanoes, talking cyclones, cops dancing with paisley-clad revellers and odes to greyhound racing - not the sort of stuff Franz Ferdinand sing about.

It made me realise that the Gurus are a particularly Australian band. They couldn't have come from anywhere else. I made my way home, my ears ringing, a grin on my face, kind of pleased about that.

The latest release to hit the shelves

Vroom by the SeaVroom by the Sea is now out in Australia and New Zealand. It picks up where Vroom with a View left off, and sees me riding through the sunny parts of Italy a few months before my daughter is born.

All your favourite characters are back. And a new one is introduced - a bright orange Rally 200 called Marcello.

What I'm working on now. And how you can help

Vroom by the SeaI've been living in the UK long enough now to apply for a British passport - the holy grail for those of us who want to be able to live and work in both Oz and Europe.

To get a passport I need to sit a citizenship test about life in the UK. The Home Office produces a book you can study. But I thought it'd be more fun to travel around the UK and observe life here first-hand.

The plan, of course, is to write a book about my adventures, tentatively called Blimey!

This is where you guys come in. I've always believed the best travel experiences come from personal recommendations. So rather than rely on guidebooks I want to use your tips and suggestions. And if you'll have me, I'd like to kip on your couches.

I've set up a special section on the website to explain it better here. And a forum where you can register and leave suggestions here.
